Park Ranger (Fee Collection)
Newport, OR Park Rangers work at Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area (YHONA), and primarily collect fees and issue federal recreation passes as a designated collections officer at the fee station located at the park entrance.
Park Rangers primarily support the Bureau's recreation program by collecting fees. Fee collection may occur in either indoor or outdoor environments, but most often in small confined fee collection booths.
Fee collection duties includes collecting recreation fees from visitors, handling funds and/or property, operating electronic fee collection equipment, reconciling cash and credit card transactions.
Fee collection park rangers may also operate an automated system for recreation registrations, complete opening and closing shift duties, and on occasion provide information and instructions to visitors.
Park Rangers may on occasion assist in the performance of day-to-day operations at a visitor center or a customer use area that provides facilities such as picnic areas, campgrounds, trails, and/or other specialized recreational opportunities.
Other occasional duties may include explaining basic regulations concerning safety, fire prevention, permit requirements and recreation facilities and activities to visitors.
They may also or ensure facilities and customer use areas are free of visible safety hazards and recreation sites are maintained.
