IRS DCOS | Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion Student Volunteer

Student Volunteer Program Internship – Spring 2022 (deadline to apply: Sunday, January 16, 2022)

Student Volunteer Description/Overview: Students responding to this posting will be assigned to the Office of the Deputy Commissioner for Operations Support (DCOS) and will perform work within the Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion (EDI), Civil Rights and Anti-Harassment division. Students interested in program management with some, or all requested skills are encouraged to apply.

Job duties specific to this assignment include but are not limited to prepare marketing/awareness communications, conduct research, and review operating procedures, assist with strategic planning, raw data extraction, data capturing, and reports formulation.

Additional details and organizational charts are included for additional reference. Exact assignments will depend on the student's area of study and any particular skills or interests.
·      Outcomes for Student: The student will be able to explore career options, enhance their knowledge about the inner workings of a large federal agency, and develop their business analysis, strategic planning, event management, stakeholder engagement, administrative, and/or communication/networking skills.
·      Desired Qualifications and Skills: Successful candidates will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, have strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and on cross-functional teams.
Skills: Writing and computer skills. General understanding and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

·      Desired Areas of Study: Project Management, Business, Government, and Politics (students from other academic disciplines are still encouraged to apply.)

·      Hours and Location: This is an unpaid, part-time opportunity (approx. 16 - 32 hours per week) based out of IRS National Headquarters: 1111 Constitution Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20224. **All spring 2022 internships are currently 100% virtual as IRS employees are still on mandatory telework due to the COVID-19 pandemic**
Schedules (workdays and hours) are flexible and can be negotiated. Ideal candidates can commit to at least 16+ hours per week with core hours 8:00am – 4:30pm ET.

Application Requirements: Applicants must be U.S. citizens and enrolled at least part-time at their educational institution and must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
