Fermilab’s Finance Section seeks a Procurement Associate. Under direct supervision, purchases low dollar value goods and services required to support the mission of the laboratory. Assists upper level procurement specialists with the administration of subcontracts. Responsibilities are accomplished in cooperation with internal customers, FRA project teams, support personnel, subcontractors and the Department of Energy (DOE), in accordance with established procurement policies and procedures, contract law, commercial practice and applicable federal procurement regulations.

Responsibilities include:
  • Solicit, award, and administer low-dollar value, non-complex, subcontracts.
  • Obtain, cost and analyze delivery quotes received; and prepares purchase orders for low dollar value equipment, goods and services.
  • Develops and recommends sources for supply of goods and services.
  • Maintains relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, review materials sourced, cost, and supplier services.
  • Assist requestors with identifying needs and guides them through the procurement process.
  • Expedites and administers purchase orders. Provides spend analysis and other related reports. Accountability for established metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with FRA procurement policies and procedures, contract law, commercial practice, and applicable federal procurement regulations.
  • Provides excellent customer service and meets established customer service goals.

We are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred; equivalent supply chain experience will be considered.
  • 1+ year work experience, or equivalent, preferably working for a government contractor, branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, university, municipality, or federal government.
  • Familiarity with Department of Energy Acquisition Regulation (DEAR) and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Oracle eBS or similar procurement system.
  • Exceptional customer service skills are essential.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or in a group.
  • Ability to abide by and be responsible for performing duties in accordance with all environmental, health & safety regulations, and practices pertinent to this position.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
