Kankakee Sands Assistant Land Steward

The Nature Conservancy in Indiana is seeking a Kankakee Sands Assistant Land Steward for its 8,400-acre Kankakee Sands Preserve located in Morocco, Indiana. They will join a passionate and skilled team of staff that use a variety of conservation strategies and restoration tools to maintain, enhance, and advocate for this diverse landscape. They will maintain preserve areas frequented by the visiting public; perform land management activities across Kankakee Sands; and become members of our fire, grazing, and stewardship programs as well as assist with preserve operations.

 

Minimum qualifications include: a high school diploma or GED and 1 years’ related training or experience; experience recognizing plant and animal species; operating and repairing field equipment; and the ability to obtain related licenses and certifications as required.

 

This is a full time, temporary (approximately 2-years), field-oriented position based at our Kankakee Sands Field Office in Morocco, Indiana. It includes a competitive benefits package, pays $18 an hour, and on-site shared housing may be available.
